Architectural reference

In this workshop we will perform discovery and migration of an emulated production environment running on a customer datacenter. The environment consists of 3 applications and 5 servers.

All the concepts applied in this migration exercise can also be applied to 10s, 100s or 1000s of server migrations.

Please migrate the 5 servers from the on-premise emulated source environment to AWS.

Migration flow

  1. Check pre-requisites
  2. Install replication Agents
  3. Push DNS update post launch script to all servers
  4. Verify replication status
  5. Validate Launch template
  6. Launch test instances
  7. Verify test instances status
  8. Mark as ready for cutover
  9. Shutdown source servers
  10. Launch cutover instances
  11. Verify cutover instances status
  12. Test application
  13. Finialize Cutover
  14. Disconnect source from AWS
  15. (Optional) Wave 2 Windows server
